Product Description

A lactic acid-forming bacterial species. Gram-positive rod (0.9 by 3.0 to 5.0μm in size), catalase positive, spore-forming, motile, and a facultative anaerobe. Metabolism prefers mesophilic temperature about 40℃, range of temperature is 30–55℃; and it grows in the pH range of 5.5 to 7.0. The spore formed Bacillus spp is more acid tolerant than pathogenic and spoilage microorganisms, good resistant to the high temperature, acidity and bile. Spores of B. coagulans are likely survive at gastric pH and reach the intestine, where sporulation can occur. The animal or human gastric humidity can help the bacteria to transform from spore form to active state of being, and then produce peptidoglycan to coordinate this inactive/active metabolism.

Bacillus coagulans has been studied and used for a long time, even much before antibiotic discovery. It was regarded as the alternative medicine in a period for bacteria treatment. From the summarized study results, the metabolism of the Bacillus coagulans is mainly as:

  • Oxygen Consumption via Aerobic Metabolism: Helps boost other anaerobic bacteria — especially friendly lactic acid bacteria — to grow. As part of its metabolic activity, it also produces organic acids to compete against and inhibit the growth of pathogens.
  • Enzyme Production: Bacillus spp is able to produce multiple types of enzymes such as α-amylase, protease, lipase, cellulase, etc. These enzymes facilitate the working of other enzymes from the host animal or human body.
  • Vitamin B & Natural Antibiotics: Bacillus spp produces sufficient amounts of vitamin B as well as different types of antibodies such as Iturin A, Chitinase, Gramidicin, Polymycin, Nystatin, etc. — working together with natural nutrition supplements.
  • L(+) Lactic Acid Production: Bacillus coagulans produces L(+) Lactic acid.

Due to strong surviving ability and comprehensive metabolic capability, Bacillus spp has been widely used in the enzyme industry, animal nutrition and health, and environmental control. It is a popular ingredient in probiotic products in regions such as America, Ukraine, and Italy. Bacillus coagulans is included in CFDA approved safe strains for human foods in China, and is also approved on the EFSA-QPS list and US-GRAS list.

Health Benefits
🌿 Gut Health Optimization
  • Restores Microbial Balance: Promotes growth of lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria to regulate intestinal flora, easing IBS, abdominal pain, constipation, and GI inflammation.
  • Enhances Digestion: Secretes amylase/protease enzymes for nutrient absorption; generates vitamins, amino acids, and short-chain fatty acids to boost intestinal motility.
  • Anti-Inflammatory Action: Releases coagulin, a natural bacteriostatic agent with therapeutic effects on gastrointestinal inflammation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q What is Bacillus coagulans and how does it differ from other probiotics?
Bacillus coagulans is a spore-forming, lactic acid-producing probiotic bacterium. Unlike most conventional probiotics, its spore form allows it to survive harsh conditions including high temperatures, stomach acid, and bile salts — making it significantly more stable and effective upon reaching the intestine compared to non-spore-forming probiotic strains.
Q What is the viable cell count of this Bacillus coagulans product?
Our Bacillus coagulans product offers a viable cell count of ≥ 1.0 × 1011 CFU/g, ensuring a highly potent and effective probiotic concentration suitable for dietary supplements, animal feed, and food applications.
Q Is Bacillus coagulans safe for human consumption?
Yes. Bacillus coagulans is recognized as safe by multiple regulatory bodies. It is included in the CFDA (China) approved safe strains for human food use, listed on the EFSA-QPS (European Union) approved list, and holds US-GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status — confirming its safety for both human and animal use.
Q What are the main health benefits of Bacillus coagulans?
Bacillus coagulans offers a wide range of health benefits including gut microbiome restoration, improved digestion, anti-inflammatory effects in the gastrointestinal tract, enhanced immune function, support for sports recovery, and metabolic benefits such as blood lipid and blood sugar regulation.
Q How should Bacillus coagulans be stored to maintain its activity?
Bacillus coagulans should be stored at -18°C in a well-sealed package, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Under these conditions, the product maintains its full potency for at least 24 months. The spore-forming nature of the bacteria provides additional stability during storage and handling.
Q In what product forms and applications can Bacillus coagulans be used?
Bacillus coagulans is highly versatile and can be formulated into capsules, tablets, sachets/strips, and drops for dietary supplements; incorporated into food products such as gummies and hot drinks; used in animal nutrition and animal feed; and applied as starter cultures in aquaculture feeds. Custom packing from 1kg to 10kg is available upon request.
