Product Description

A lactic acid-forming bacterial species. Gram-positive rod (0.9 by 3.0 to 5.0μm in size), catalase positive, spore-forming, motile, and a facultative anaerobe. Metabolism prefers mesophilic temperature about 40℃, range of temperature is 30–55℃; and it grows in the pH range of 5.5 to 7.0. The spore formed Bacillus spp is more acid tolerant than pathogenic and spoilage microorganisms, good resistant to the high temperature, acidity and bile. Spores of B. coagulans are likely to survive at gastric pH and reach the intestine, where sporulation can occur. The animal or human gastric humidity can help the bacteria to transform from spore form to active state of being, and then produce peptidoglycan to coordinate this inactive/active metabolism.

Bacillus coagulans has been studied and used for a long time, even much before antibiotic discovery. It was regarded as the alternative medicine in a period for bacteria treatment. From the summarized study results, the metabolism of the Bacillus coagulans is mainly as:

  • Aerobic Oxygen Consumption: Oxygen consumption by aerobic metabolism to help boost other anaerobic bacteria — especially the friendly lactic acid bacteria — to grow. Also as part of its metabolic activity, it can produce more organic acid to compete and inhibit the growth of pathogens.

  • Multi-Enzyme Production: The Bacillus spp is able to produce multiple types of enzymes, such as α-amylase, protease, lipase, cellulose etc. These enzymes can facilitate the working of other enzymes from the host animal or human body.

  • Vitamin B & Natural Antibiotics: Bacillus spp is able to produce sufficient amounts of vitamin B as well as different types of antibodies that can be used as antibiotics such as Iturin A, Chitinase, Gramidicin, Polymycin, Nystatin etc. These work together with natural nutrition supplements as well as natural antibiotics.

  • L(+) Lactic Acid Production: Bacillus coagulans produces L(+) Lactic acid, supporting a healthy gut environment.

Due to the strong surviving ability as well as the comprehensive metabolism ability, Bacillus spp in the past tens of years are widely used in the enzyme industry, animal nutrition and health, environment control etc. In some regions such as America, Ukraine, Italy etc., it is a very popular ingredient of probiotic products meant for human consumption.

Bacillus coagulans is included in CFDA approved safe strains to be used for human foods in China. It is also generally approved in the EFSA-QPS list as well as the US-GRAS list.

Health Benefits
🫁 Gut Health Optimization
  • Restores Microbial Balance: Promotes growth of lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria to regulate intestinal flora, easing IBS, abdominal pain, constipation, and GI inflammation.
  • Enhances Digestion: Secretes amylase/protease enzymes for nutrient absorption; generates vitamins, amino acids, and short-chain fatty acids to boost intestinal motility.
  • Anti-Inflammatory Action: Releases coagulin, a natural bacteriostatic agent with therapeutic effects on gastrointestinal inflammation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q What is Bacillus coagulans and how does it differ from other probiotics?
Bacillus coagulans is a spore-forming, lactic acid-producing bacterial species. Unlike many conventional probiotics, its spore form allows it to survive harsh conditions such as high temperatures, acidity, and bile, ensuring it reaches the intestine alive and active — making it significantly more stable than non-spore-forming probiotic strains.
Q Is Bacillus coagulans safe for human consumption?
Yes. Bacillus coagulans is approved by China's CFDA as a safe strain for use in human foods. It is also included in the EFSA-QPS list in Europe and recognized as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) in the United States, confirming its safety for human consumption across multiple regulatory frameworks.
Q What are the main health benefits of Bacillus coagulans?
Bacillus coagulans offers a wide range of health benefits including gut health optimization (restoring microbial balance, enhancing digestion, and reducing inflammation), immune system support, sports nutrition and muscle recovery, as well as metabolic support for healthy blood lipid and blood sugar levels.
Q What is the viable cell count of your Bacillus coagulans product?
Our Bacillus coagulans product contains a viable cell count of ≥ 1.0 × 1011 CFU/g, ensuring a high-potency probiotic with reliable efficacy for both human and animal nutrition applications.
Q In what applications can Bacillus coagulans be used?
Bacillus coagulans is highly versatile and can be incorporated into medications, healthcare products, dietary supplements (capsules, tablets, sachets, drops), food products (including gummies and hot drinks), animal nutrition products, animal feed, and aquaculture feeds.
Q How should Bacillus coagulans be stored and what is its shelf life?
Bacillus coagulans should be stored at -18°C in a well-sealed package, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Under these conditions, the product maintains its potency and viability for at least 24 months. Proper packaging with aluminum foil and PE bags ensures optimal protection during storage and transport.
