Product Description

A lactic acid-forming bacterial species. Gram-positive rod (0.9 by 3.0 to 5.0μm in size), catalase positive, spore-forming, motile, and a facultative anaerobe. Metabolism prefers mesophilic temperature about 40℃, range of temperature is 30–55℃; and it grows in the pH range of 5.5 to 7.0. The spore formed Bacillus spp is more acid tolerant than pathogenic and spoilage microorganisms, good resistant to the high temperature, acidity and bile. Spores of B. coagulans are likely survive at gastric pH and reach the intestine, where sporulation can occur. The animal or human gastric humidity can help the bacteria to transform from spore form to active state of being, and then produce peptidoglycan to coordinate this inactive/active metabolism.

Bacillus coagulans has been studied and used for a long time, even much before antibiotic discovery. It was regarded as the alternative medicine in a period for bacteria treatment. From the summarized study results, the metabolism of the Bacillus coagulans is mainly as:

Oxygen Consumption & Anaerobic Support: Oxygen consumption by aerobic metabolism to help to boost the other anaerobic bacteria especially the friendly lactic acid bacteria to grow up. Also as a part of its metabolic activity, it can also produce more organic acid to compete and inhibit the growth of pathogens.

Enzyme Production: The Bacillus spp is able to produce multiple types of enzymes, such as α-amylase, protease, lipase, cellulose etc. These enzymes can facilitate the working of other enzymes from the host animal or human body.

Vitamin B & Natural Antibiotics: Bacillus spp is able to produce sufficient amounts of vitamin B as well different type antibodies that can be used as antibiotics such as Iturin A, Chitinase, Gramidicin, Polymycin, Nystatin etc. These work together with natural nutrition supplements as well the natural antibiotics.

L(+) Lactic Acid Production: Bacillus coagulans produce L(+) Lactic acid.

Due to the strong surviving ability as well the comprehensive metabolism ability, Bacillus spp in the past tens of years are widely used in the enzyme industry, animal nutrition and health, environment control etc. In some regions such as America, Ukraine, Italy etc., it is a very popular ingredient of probiotic products meant for human consumption. Bacillus coagulans is included in CFDA approved safe strains to be used for human foods in China. It is also generally approved in the EFSA-QPS list as well the US-GRAS list.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Bacillus coagulans and how does it differ from other probiotics?
Bacillus coagulans is a spore-forming, lactic acid-producing probiotic bacterium. Unlike many conventional probiotics, its spore form provides exceptional resistance to heat, acidity, and bile, allowing it to survive gastric conditions and reach the intestine in an active state. This makes it significantly more stable and effective compared to non-spore-forming probiotic strains.
Is Bacillus coagulans safe for human consumption?
Yes. Bacillus coagulans is recognized as safe by multiple regulatory authorities. It is included in the CFDA approved safe strains list for use in human foods in China, listed on the EFSA-QPS (Qualified Presumption of Safety) list in Europe, and holds US-GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status in the United States.
What are the main health benefits of Bacillus coagulans?
Bacillus coagulans offers multiple health benefits including gut health optimization (restoring microbial balance, enhancing digestion, and reducing GI inflammation), immunity boosting, sports nutrition and muscle recovery support, and metabolic support for healthy blood lipid levels and balanced blood sugar/insulin responses.
What is the viable cell count of this Bacillus coagulans product?
This product guarantees a viable cell count of ≥ 1.0×1011 CFU/g, ensuring a high-potency probiotic concentration suitable for use in dietary supplements, functional foods, and animal nutrition applications.
What are the recommended storage conditions and shelf life?
For optimal preservation, the product should be stored at -18°C in a well-sealed package, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Under these conditions, the product maintains its quality and potency for at least 24 months from the date of manufacture.
In what forms and applications can Bacillus coagulans be used?
Bacillus coagulans is highly versatile and can be incorporated into a wide range of products including capsules, tablets, sachets, strips, and drops for dietary supplements and healthcare; functional food products such as gummies and hot drinks; animal nutrition and feed products; as well as aquaculture feed starter cultures. Custom packing sizes from 1kg to 10kg are available upon request.
