Product Details
🔬 What is Lactobacillus Acidophilus?
Lactobacillus acidophilus is a gram-positive, rod-shaped probiotic bacterium often found in the small intestine. It produces lactic acid, acetic acid, and natural antibiotics that protect against harmful bacteria.

Lactobacillus acidophilus especially benefits infants and patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction by maintaining intestinal flora balance. Moreover, it may stimulate the immune system and strengthen immune function.

It is a homofermentative, microaerophilic species, fermenting sugars into lactic acid. It grows readily at low pH values (below pH 5.0) and has an optimum growth temperature of around 37°C. It occurs naturally in the human and animal gastrointestinal tract, mouth, and urinary tract, and can also be found in various fermented foods.

Lactobacillus acidophilus has a super strong ability to survive in gastro-acid (low pH), bile salt, and enzyme digestion pressure conditions. It colonizes human epithelial cell lines and human intestinal mucus, producing lactic acid, acetic acid, and natural antimicrobials such as acidolin, acidophilin, and aetocidon to inhibit other bacteria. It can grow in both oxygen-present and oxygen-absent conditions, thrives better aerobically, and can even survive in nitrogen dioxide conditions. Its metabolism can digest monosaccharides and it creates lactase — an enzyme that converts lactose (milk sugar) into simple sugar.
