Product Description

A lactic acid-forming bacterial species. Gram-positive rod (0.9 by 3.0 to 5.0μm in size), catalase positive, spore-forming, motile, and a facultative anaerobe. Metabolism prefers mesophilic temperature about 40℃, range of temperature is 30–55℃; and it grows in the pH range of 5.5 to 7.0. The spore formed Bacillus spp is more acid tolerant than pathogenic and spoilage microorganisms, good resistant to the high temperature, acidity and bile. Spores of B. coagulans are likely to survive at gastric pH and reach the intestine, where sporulation can occur. The animal or human gastric humidity can help the bacteria to transform from spore form to active state of being, and then produce peptidoglycan to coordinate this inactive/active metabolism.

Bacillus coagulans has been studied and used for a long time, even much before antibiotic discovery. It was regarded as the alternative medicine in a period for bacteria treatment. From the summarized study results, the metabolism of the Bacillus coagulans is mainly as:

Oxygen Consumption & Anaerobic Support: Aerobic metabolism helps boost other anaerobic bacteria, especially friendly lactic acid bacteria. As part of its metabolic activity, it can also produce more organic acid to compete and inhibit the growth of pathogens.
Multi-Enzyme Production: Bacillus spp is able to produce multiple types of enzymes, such as α-amylase, protease, lipase, cellulose etc. These enzymes can facilitate the working of other enzymes from the host animal or human body.
Vitamin B & Natural Antibiotics: Bacillus spp is able to produce sufficient amounts of vitamin B as well as different types of antibodies that can be used as antibiotics such as Iturin A, Chitinase, Gramidicin, Polymycin, Nystatin etc. These work together with natural nutrition supplements as well as natural antibiotics.
L(+) Lactic Acid Production: Bacillus coagulans produce L(+) Lactic acid, contributing to a healthy gut environment.

Due to the strong surviving ability as well as the comprehensive metabolism ability, Bacillus spp in the past tens of years are widely used in the enzyme industry, animal nutrition and health, environment control etc. In some regions such as America, Ukraine, Italy etc., it is a very popular ingredient of probiotic products meant for human consumption. Bacillus coagulans is included in CFDA approved safe strains to be used for human foods in China. It is also generally approved in the EFSA-QPS list as well as the US-GRAS list.

Health Benefits

1 Gut Health Optimization

Restores Microbial Balance: Promotes growth of lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria to regulate intestinal flora, easing IBS, abdominal pain, constipation, and GI inflammation.
Enhances Digestion: Secretes amylase/protease enzymes for nutrient absorption; generates vitamins, amino acids, and short-chain fatty acids to boost intestinal motility.
Anti-Inflammatory Action: Releases coagulin, a natural bacteriostatic agent with therapeutic effects on gastrointestinal inflammation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Bacillus coagulans and how does it differ from other probiotics?
Bacillus coagulans is a spore-forming, lactic acid-producing probiotic bacterium. Unlike many conventional probiotics, its spore form allows it to survive harsh conditions such as high temperature, acidity, and bile, making it far more stable and effective at reaching the intestines alive compared to non-spore-forming strains.
Is Bacillus coagulans safe for human consumption?
Yes. Bacillus coagulans is recognized as safe by multiple regulatory authorities worldwide. It is included in China's CFDA approved safe strains list for human foods, the European EFSA-QPS list, and the US FDA GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) list.
What are the main health benefits of taking Bacillus coagulans?
Bacillus coagulans offers multiple health benefits including gut health optimization (restoring microbial balance, enhancing digestion, reducing GI inflammation), immunity boosting, supporting sports recovery, and promoting metabolic health by helping regulate blood lipids and blood sugar levels.
In what product forms can Bacillus coagulans be used?
Bacillus coagulans is highly versatile and can be incorporated into capsules, tablets, sachets/strips, drops, gummies, hot drinks, animal feed, and aquaculture feeds. Its heat-stable spore form makes it especially suitable for products that undergo processing at elevated temperatures.
What is the viable cell count and how should the product be stored?
Our Bacillus coagulans powder provides a viable cell count of ≥ 1.0×1011 CFU/g. For optimal potency, it should be stored at -18°C in a well-sealed package, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Under these conditions, the shelf life is at least 24 months.
What packaging options are available and what are the minimum order quantities?
The product is packed in aluminum foil & PE bags (inner) with foam box & carton (outer) to ensure maximum protection. Standard packing sizes range from 1kg to 10kg per unit, with custom packing sizes available upon request to suit your specific production or formulation needs.
